Karen Shares her Experience at Chrysalis Cosmetics with Breast Enhancement Surgery
Sacramento California. Once you’ve made the decision to take the plunge with breast augmentation or other plastic surgery procedure the next big decision is choosing your plastic surgery provider. Recently I was thinking about how one makes that decision. It can be a tough one and I imagine many do it more scientifically than I as I often find myself asking others whom they would recommend and then go on line to evaluate their presentation. It is interesting because I used to look in the Yellow pages for the biggest add or closest provider and evaluate them over the phone.
Our question was, “Is this what others do too?” So with interest we began asking people whom chose us for their plastic surgery needs how they came to their decision. The number one was reason was the internet and number two was friend referral followed by other paid advertizing such as radio and print. However it certainly varies. For most people they usually ask a friend whom they would recommend especially if they have had the same procedure done. Websites seem to be the other common place from where to choose your surgeon. Before and after photos of the procedure you are interested in can be reviewed so that you can personally evaluate the results. When doing this find someone with a similar build so that you can get a reasonable idea about what you might expect from a similar procedure. Also look at how many years experience they have and be sure that they are accredited by a reputable agency and plastic surgery board. Many surgeons are also including testimonials on their websites or Facebook accounts as well. These can be helpful however remember that these testimonials are usually only from people that are willing to do them and in general happy with their results. All of these methods are helpful and you will certainly develop a feel for the providers practice and a comfort level. You will be drawn to the one that you will feel most comfortable with in most cases it will be the right decision for you. There are other ways to choose as well, give us a call if we can help. Have a wonderful spring.

In Sacramento California, Dr Charles Perry Medical Director of Chrysalis Cosmetics, has established a financial policy for your convenience. We are a boutique cosmetic surgery practice and as such want to devote individual attention to your needs. This policy allows us to focus on those that are serious about making change. We look forward to discussing your exciting new changes in detail.
Once you decide to have your plastic surgery procedure, you can select a date for your transformation. To reserve your day we ask for a deposit (non-refundable) of $1000. This deposit holds the date and allows us to order your supplies and personal for the procedure. It also allows you time to review the documents describing your procedure in detail and view some animated videos of your procedure if you wish. Two weeks prior to surgery at your pre procedure appointment the remaining balance for the surgery is due. This can be financed or placed on a credit card if more convenient. This process of a consult and a pre procedure appointment allows you a chance to have all your questions answered and for the doctor and staff to review your cosmetic surgery goals in detail, making a better plan for your surgery and transformation. At Chrysalis Cosmetics we do not feel the need to rush this decision or the surgery as we want what is best for you. And we want to help you make a good decision for you. If you have any questions with regard to the financial policy or plastic or cosmetic surgery in general please give us a call at 916-248-2447.

In times like these we are now seeing many cosmetic surgery practices offering hugely discounted prices and free consultations as well as discount surgeries. Perhaps you are thinking about a cosmetic enhancement to improve your appearance. Perhaps you are thinking about a cosmetic enhance to improve the image that others see of you. Perhaps you want to reveal that inner beauty and vitality or tighten the skin a little. If you are you may wonder why some plastic surgeons charge and others don’t for their consultations.
Time is money for busy plastic surgeons and persons shopping for plastic surgery enhancements. And when you are ready for an enhancement a consultation fee is well worth it especially when you are selecting a physician that is busy enough to charge for a consultation. This should let you know that the practice values every minute of the doctors time and yours. It should also say that they must have some good results as people continue to visit the practice and refer friends as well. Plastic surgeons and Cosmetic Surgeons in the Sacramento Area that charge for a consultation, value their time and skills.
If something is free is there a real value to it? What does free mean to you? Would you trust your face, eyes or breasts or skin to a plastic surgeon that is giving away surgery or their medical opinion for free during a consultation? What message does it send to you when a medical doctor especially one that has trained for over 15 years in a specialty is giving away their time? Why do they have to do this?
At Chrysalis Cosmetics a nominal consultation fee is collected. You can secure your consultation with any major credit card. The small fee collected for the consult is often used towards your procedure in most cases. When you are ready to move forward with some exciting changes give Dr Charles Perry and his staff a call at 916-273-7435.

Facial enhancement is one of the most exciting frontiers of cosmetic plastic surgery. Enhancement of your appearance can have a positive impact upon your life and career. While a facelift is still one of the most dramatic changes you can make, there are other less dramatic options available for you. At Chrysalis Cosmetics we are excited to share some new ideas with you. Age management is an important aspect for your appearance as it is for your entire body. With your skin being the largest organ, we usually begin there. Most importantly hydration through drink clean water, avoiding excessive sun exposure, eating a balanced diet, getting plenty of rest and at least an hour of exercise each day are important adjuncts to any aesthetic procedure. They set stage for quick recovery, enhanced results and can optimize your overall health. We believe that we should all live a healthy beautiful life.
Some options now available include laser skin resurfacing and blemish removal through laser engeries. At Chrysalis Cosmetics we often combine the laser procedure with a good skin care line to prolong the appearance as well. Recently Plastic Surgeons have realized that tightening the skin is important in combination with volume enhancements. Several recent studies of the face have revealed a deflation occurring with age that can be correct with a multitude of effective fillers or in fact even using your own fat cells. While a fuller face may not be right for everyone, relaxation of the muscle of the face causing stress or worry lines may be. Botox and now Dysport are available to treat these unwanted lines and help us present a more pleasant relaxed look to the outside world. Of course a combination of facial fillers, laser skin enhancement and muscle relaxation may truly enhance your look we are seeing an increase in people choosing to have a more lasting change with surgery especially around the eyes and neck. Many people are choosing have a little neck liposuction and brow elevation with tightening of the skin around the eyes through a blepharoplasty, brow lift and Vaser liposuction of the neck. With all the options now available it is important to know what it is you truly want and discuss it openly with your plastic surgeon and allow them to present you with some exciting options.

In today’s world looking your very best can mean looking youthful, fit happy, and healthy. What makes you look your very best is often individualized and there really does not exist one right look for everyone. When considering a facelift in Sacramento California be sure you do your homework regarding your options. As plastic surgeons and cosmetic surgeons such as Dr Charles Perry examine more faces every year for rejuvenation it has become clear that there are certainly some characteristics of an aged appearance. In fact studies have been done examining identical twins to compare what makes people looking more vital and youthful. In youth (referring to persons less than age 40) angularity often is rated as more attractive while after forty fuller cheeks and less hollowness around the eyes is often more youthful or vigorous looking. The skin tone and texture also changes s does the distribution of volume around the face. In Sacramento as in many places around California including Tahoe, Roseville, Elk Grove Modesto, Stockton and Folsom as well El Dorado Hills, it will require removal means smooth skin and the absence of sun spots and fine lines that can create a tired elderly appearance.
At Chrysalis Cosmetics we will evaluate your features and make some suggestions as to the options available to enhance your look. For some people an eyelid lift is all that is needed, while for others an eyelid lift and a browlift is required to enhance the periorbital region. As always it is important to discuss all of your options prior to proceeding with a facelift. Often times we have found that laser resurfacing along with a thorough skin care regiment with some augmentation of the lips and cheek using products such as Resytlane or Juvederm enhances the look and for some enough to avoid a secondary facelift. Combining skin resurfacing lasers or chemical peels can really brighten and tighten the skin leaving you feeling younger and more entergetic. We have found that most people want a natural look and this often requires refreshing not only the skin but the facial volume and removal of excess sagging. When combined a more natural look results and we are all happy.
Dr Charles Perry specializes in creating a unique and individualized result designed especially for you. At the consultation your ideas will be discussed and several options presented to you. The goal is for you to feel comfortable and relaxed in the fact that Dr Perry a fully trained Board Certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in Cosmetic Facial procedures will give you the results you desire. With your participation good things happen and the process of facial enhancement becomes less daunting and by working together with the wonderful staff at Chrysalis Cosmetics your transformation through cosmetic plastic surgery will be enjoyable and something that you will want to share with your friends and family. We look forward to meeting you.

In our opinion yes.
A cosmetic and plastic surgery practices combines both artistry and disciplined medicine in obtaining a beautiful result. Plastic surgeons learn this through an extensive time in residency and continued learning once their training is complete. This required training, monitoring, continued learning, and continued self critique as well as processing that others allows all plastic surgeons the opportunity to grow and become better over time. The enthusiasm and desire for excellence your plastic surgeon demonstrates go without saying as this is often a requirement of attending a residency program in plastic surgery.
But why is it necessary for your plastic surgeon to operate in their own operating room? Why is it necessary for them to maintain all of the expensive equipment and meet accreditation standards every year? The simple answer would be convenience and patient comfort. It is true that this does allow the surgeon to utilize his time and his staff’s time more efficiently in some regards. It is also a more discrete environment for the patient and the focus is solely upon the singular patient. But the answer is deeper than that. It begins with the desire to create and enhance. A process begins in the drawing stages in the plastic surgeons office. It is here that plans are made. As if an architect the surgeon and patient create a plan to achieve an enhancement. Preparations are made and materials are secured by the staff whom known the patient intimately. The operating room and staff are stocked checked and prepared with the individual patient in mind. The cleanliness is confirmed and the materials double checked. The plastic surgeon and the patient enter the theater feeling calm and reassured that the whole team involved in the procedure are on the same page and have the same goals in mind. This allows the surgeon and the nurse as well as the surgical technician to perform their duties in a comfortable familiar environment and perform at their peak.
This all happens best in a familiar environment for the plastic surgeon working with the same team and the same anesthesiologist as well as the same instruments. The results are more predictable and the outcome more beautiful. Being able to perform cosmetic procedures in a certified operating room with excellent staff often allows for a better experience for the patient and in our minds a better result. At Chrysalis Cosmetics we maintain our own operating, staff and instruments and have found that not only are patients happier with the excellent level of service and care but their responses to our quality assessment survey are more positive as well. We look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you have.

Plastic surgery offers the powerful chance to change the appearance. This opportunity provides hope to those afflicted by accidents and unforeseen injuries that often disfigure the appearance. It also offers those with congenital anomalies the opportunity to alter whatever they were born with into something that they desire. It allows people to choose their own appearance. It allows one to rejuvenate their body and remove unwanted excess or attain a little more in areas making clothes fit better or some to feel beautiful. Plastic surgery provides hope. The challenge with this opportunity is often that the expectations of what can be achieved often exceed the possibilities of what surgery can provide. In some circumstances the expectations can even exceed what can be done in multiple surgeries.
This is a difficult situation and plastic surgeons as well as some cosmetic surgeons will often refuse perform a procedure if after consulting with a patient it still appears that the expectations exceed the normal or expected outcome of surgery. It is important to also make sure that the patient understands that surgery has many unknowns and results vary widely based upon the individual’s own tissue and healing process. No two people are identical and no two healing processes are identical. This creates the possibility of variance and unpredictable results. If one cannot handle variance cosmetic or even plastic surgery may not be right for you.
Before having plastic surgery it is important to remember that a touch up or revision surgery is a real possibility and that it will cost more to do such. Many people choose to have additional surgeries when the outcome of the surgery is not what they anticipated or when their expectations change after the healing process and a little more enhancement is desired. This is a slippery slope as one usually cannot be too beautiful, too young, or have too much money. We suggest that once a decision is made and a procedure is completed that one waits six months to a year before considering any more changes to the appearance as this feeling of wanting to do more is common and perfection is not attainable.
Remember that the healing process also changes your mood. The healing process will create some anxiety and can result in a depressed mood state. This can often be the most difficult part of the recovery process. We see this most commonly for larger surgeries such as abdominoplasty and mastopexy or breast lift as well as for facelifts and blepharoplasties. It is important to remember that the mood and the anxiety pass as the healing completes and your new look emerges.
It is important to consider the effect healing and the appearance transformation will have on your mind prior to surgery and develop a plan to deal with these predictable responses to surgery and changing expectations. We have observed that having a spouse, partner, significant other, or friend that remains positive and supportive throughout the healing process often results in a more peaceful recovery and in overall better results. At Chrysalis Cosmetics we spend time prior to your surgery going over your expectations and expected results. We also counsel about the known unanticipated results and all the options for handling the situation. This pre-transformation educational process is done in a verbal and written format so that you have opportunities to go over this prior to any change of your physical appearance. We feel that while your physical appearance changes your inner self changes as well and this is often the more challenging part of the transformation process for our patients. We like to think of our service as more than just a procedure, product or service but a relationship that may allow you to maintain or enhance your look through the years. It is so important to remember that your expectations about what looks good will change throughout your life time. It is also interesting to note that these changes often occur at times in people’s lives when the most change is occurring such as before a wedding, a new job, a big move or even a promotion at work. It is an exciting time to be involved and we look forward to facilitating a safe and predictable experience for you during your transformation.

Preparing for Surgery
Chrysalis Cosmetics encourages you to prepare for your upcoming surgery in a positive manner. Preparation ensures success.
There are emotional, mental, and physical aspects of the healing process. Enhancing the recovery process begins before surgery. Becoming as healthy as possible before surgery speeds recovery and optimizes your results. This involves the following aspects:
• Eating a balanced diet
• Getting enough sleep
• Positive visualization of the recovery process
• Shedding any extra weight
• Exercising your muscles.
Your Environment
For some, beginning a spiritual program through mediation or prayer facilitates continued health and happiness through times of change. Create a beautiful environment for your recovery, both inside your mind and outside it. Soothing sounds (water fountain, ocean sounds), sights (calming colors, candlelight, flowers), and scents (lavender, vanilla) in your recovery environment can help a positive healing process.
Your Mental State
Lowering your anxiety towards surgery and the recovery process starts now. Creating a positive attitude towards the recovery and your results is empowering. Relaxation tapes focusing on breathing and positive imagery enhance the recovery process, lower pain levels and drop stress levels and can be found at the library on line or at the office. “Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster” is a step by step guide in this process. Imagery is helpful for the mind, body and spirit. One suggestion is to imagine the operating room and procedure proceeding beautifully. Practice this imagery twice a day prior to surgery by imagining your body responding beautifully to the procedure, carefully attended to by your surgeon and surgical team. Visualize the rapid recovery, completed without bleeding, infection or complication. Visualize returning to a normal routine following surgery with your enhanced physique. Remember that cultivating this positive attitude will allow you and your doctor to be successful in obtaining your goals.
After surgery, meditative techniques can help to bring your consciousness out of your body, into a state of calm and tranquility. For many, the several days immediately following surgery are days of quiet reflection. Use these days to build your inner fortitude, and focus on all of the positive gifts you have in your life. Refer to the attached meditation techniques for suggestions.
Your Care Giver(s)
Preparing your care giver for the recovery process will be a big help after the surgery is completed. Letting them know how they will help and what you will need before the time comes allows them time to prepare and focus on what is important. Creating this circle of support with family and friends will allow others to share their warm feeling for you and greatly enhance your ability to heal. Choose only those people in your life who can be positive. Our bodies and minds respond to whatever we and others tell them.
Your Nutrition
Nutrition is another factor in your recovery. A well balanced diet begins with choosing the best foods possible during the preparation and healing process. Choose fresh fruits that look and smell fantastic. A general rule is the brighter the colors of your fruits and vegetables, the more nutrients they provide. A few “power” vegetables and fruits include: kale, swiss chard, broccoli, mangoes, blueberries, carrots, sweet potatoes and beets. Balance these with fresh grains and a source of protein. In general supplements are not necessary however some suggestions would include Traumeel to help the healing process and pain tolerance, vitamin c 1000mg a day, vitamin B 50 mg a day, and a multivitamin once a day.
Remember to obtain your medications prior to your surgery date and to bring your medications with you to your surgery. If you are having breast enhancement surgery Dr Perry will often prescribe a muscle relaxant to be taken prior to surgery.
We look forward to a successful transformation and enhanced experience.

Suggestion For Healing Following Your Plastic Surgery at Chrysalis Cosmetics
Pain medication will slow down your bowel movements and create nausea. This can be reduced by continuing to drink lots of fluids, taking walks, and using intestinal stimulants such as Dulcolax twice a day.
After eye and facial surgery your vision will be decreased. We suggest obtaining some books on CD or DVD so that while resting in your first week after surgery you will have something to listen to while relaxing.
In your first week following surgery you will not feel like being social, please plan accordingly.
You may want to go to the store before surgery and stock up on essentials as well so that you do not have to do this afterwards when you will not be feeling that well.
Clean your recovery room of unnecessary clutter.
Your recovery time is quite different than any other time in your life. You will have hours in which you can reflect and mediate while you body is healing and you are going through a major transformation. We suggest mediation:
Prepare yourself for your new beautiful body. Prepare yourself for this exciting new reality.
Every morning think of the ten things you most are thankful for. Reflect upon each one of them for a few moments and share these gifts with others throughout the day.
Imagine the perfect day.
Feel your body heal as the swelling resolve and the muscles relax and the pain dissolves.
Thank your caregiver for all the extra attention and enjoy letting them care for you.
Call us if you have any questions or if we can be of assistance.
