Chrysalis Cosmetics strives to create the best experience for our patients. One of the recent advances we have been utilizing is the Transversus Abdominis Plane block, or “TAP” block. The TAP block provides pain control during and after tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty). Dr. Charles Perry has discovered that utilizing pre-emptive analgesia improves the experience of his patients and allows them to get moving quicker, especially after abdominoplasty.

The TAP block is made more effective at Chrysalis Cosmetics using ultrasound guidance for the deposition of the local anesthetic. In the abdominoplasty surgery, the block occurs after the patient goes to sleep and before the surgery starts. The patient’s whole abdomen is numbed before the incision occurs. Our board-certified plastic surgeon has seen an improved recovery with this anesthesia technique. He has been using it since 2019 with a resulting decrease in post-operative nausea, diminished pain medication usage, and quicker ambulation times. Utilizing nerve blocking agents such as Bupivacaine or EXPAREL® to alleviate the symptoms of pain following abdominoplasty enhances the patient’s experience, too. In addition, at Chrysalis Cosmetics, no drains are used when performing the tummy tuck procedure, which contributes to a more comfortable post-operative experience for patients.

The use of TAP block techniques is just one more way our team works to make the treatment and recovery process a little easier for our patients. We look forward to discussing your contouring transformation experience at Chrysalis Cosmetics! Please contact us with any questions you may have, or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Perry.
