Downsizing vs. Rightsizing in the Ozempic Era Skip to main content

Our Sacramento plastic surgeon has noticed a new trend in aesthetic preferences. With the rise of the “Ozempic” look (which refers to the popularity of the weight loss drug semaglutide), it seems that smaller surgical effects are all the rage among our cultural icons. The desire for augmentation is less common, with more patients pursuing surgeries that shape and sculpt the bustline and/or physique.

From Dr. Perry’s perspective, more patients have been requesting a “chiseled” appearance for their facial and body contours, as well as a desire for smaller breast implants. For instance, the average size of first-time breast implants was 450cc in 2020; as of 2024, it’s 250cc. Breast reduction and breast implant exchange surgeries have also become much more common in the last few years – as have liposuction, abdominoplasty, thoracoplasty, brachioplasty, thigh lifts, and other procedures that typically aim to produce a slimmer figure. Additionally, today’s patients tend to seek less prominent results for their Brazilian butt lift procedures.

Our team at Chrysalis Cosmetics always strives to create an aesthetic that achieves your individual needs and desires. That said, we feel it’s important to remember that just because smaller contours are “in,” that doesn’t mean these effects are right for everyone. When it comes to enhancing the body’s unique proportion, it’s not a matter of downsizing so much as “rightsizing.”

With this “rightsizing” technique, we can determine breast, body, and facial contours that look and feel authentic. Our advanced procedures can shift the breasts into a more appropriate position, shape the surrounding areas for a more flattering look, and comprehensively produce a more balanced aesthetic.
