Many patients want to rejuvenate their appearance without undergoing a surgical procedure. Radiesse®, a cosmetic injectable that works in a similar way to Restylane®, can address mild to moderate signs of aging with little to no downtime. Radiesse® is considered a volumizing dermal filler, and it can smooth creases and plump the skin almost instantly. Additionally, this technique can stimulate natural collagen production for longer-lasting results over time. Radiesse® can be administered as a standalone treatment or in combination with other non-surgical modalities such as laser skin resurfacing. Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Charles Perry, will develop a customized treatment plan during your initial consultation that can optimize your outcome for the best possible results.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Radiesse®?
Each person experiences the natural process of aging differently, so there is no ideal age range for facial rejuvenation treatments like Radiesse®. Healthy adults age 18 and older with reasonable expectations for results may be candidates. Most candidates for Radiesse® typically want to reduce the appearance of common signs of aging such as:
- Nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the mouth)
- Deep wrinkles
- Volume loss
- Facial scars
It’s also important to note that Radiesse® offers temporary aesthetic enhancement. For many patients, the effects can last anywhere from about one to two years. To extend the outcome, occasional touch-up treatments are recommended. We also suggest that you receive these maintenance injections before the benefits of the previous procedure have completely faded.
Radiesse® offers many benefits, including virtually instantaneous results. For this reason, overfilling should not be necessary. While fat grafting treatments can require overfilling and waiting patiently to determine if the results are as discussed, Radiesse® effects should be visible immediately.
What Should You Expect?
When you arrive for your initial consultation, Dr. Perry will examine your areas of concern and discuss your cosmetic goals. He will then apply a topical or local anesthetic to help make your experience as pleasant as possible. Most patients report little to no discomfort. He will then administer a series of injections into the treatment area using an ultrafine needle. You should be able to return to normal activity immediately afterwards. The experience can be so quick and easy, many individuals receive Radiesse® during their lunch break.
Risks of Radiesse®
Dermal fillers like Radiesse® are some of the most popular facial rejuvenation treatments available. Comprised of a biocompatible substance, Radiesse® offers subtle, natural-looking cosmetic enhancement with rapid results and little downtime. Side effects should be minimal, and they may include bruising, swelling, and tenderness in the treated area. These symptoms should fade within a day or two.
