Buttock implant surgery (also known as buttock or gluteal augmentation) is a cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks using solid silicone implants. This technique can enhance dimension, lift, and contour, delivering beautifully balanced curves for individuals who seek a more prominent silhouette or desire more pronounced buttock projection.
Just as with other body contouring procedures at Chrysalis Cosmetics, our experienced Sacramento plastic surgeon aims to ensure that the buttock augmentation process is seamless, personalized, and supported with compassionate care.
Ideal candidates for butt implants are adults in good overall health who are seeking a defined, curvier buttock shape. They may also lack sufficient fat for fat grafting techniques (e.g., Brazilian Butt Lift).
Common motivations to undergo the surgery include:
Moreover, candidates should be non-smokers or willing to stop smoking well ahead of surgery. To be considered eligible, you should also have realistic expectations and be committed to following post-operative care instructions for the best possible outcome.
Butt implant surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. Dr. Perry begins by making a small, well-concealed incision, typically in the crease between the buttocks. Through this opening, he carefully crafts a pocket either beneath the gluteal muscle or just above the muscle fascia (the choice of incision placement depends on the patient’s anatomy and the desired outcome).
Next, Dr. Perry inserts solid silicone implants into the pockets and positions them with precision to achieve balance, symmetry, and appropriate projection. Once the implants are in place, he closes the incisions with sutures and applies dressings or compression garments as needed to support healing and minimize swelling. The entire surgery usually takes between one and a half to two and a half hours. When patients return home, they are ideally accompanied by a friend or family member who can help them through the first stages of recovery.
Recovery from butt implant surgery is a gradual process that requires patience and commitment to post-operative instructions. In the first few days, patients can expect some discomfort, swelling, and bruising. Prescription or over-the-counter medication can help manage soreness, and resting in a prone or side-lying position is encouraged to protect the surgical area. Patients are generally advised to avoid sitting directly on their buttocks during this time.
By the end of the first or second week, most individuals feel well enough to begin moving around more comfortably, though they must continue wearing a compression garment to minimize swelling and provide support. It is still important to avoid strenuous activity or prolonged sitting. As the weeks progress, swelling should steadily diminish, and short periods of gentle sitting on cushioned surfaces should become more tolerable.
Around two to three weeks after surgery, many patients are able to return to work and social activities. By this stage, most of the swelling should have subsided, and the implants should have settled into a natural-looking position. After approximately 10 weeks, patients may resume more intensive exercise. The final results usually become apparent within a few months, when the buttocks take on their new, contoured shape.
At our Sacramento practice, the cost of butt implant surgery generally ranges from $9,500 to $10,500. Please note that the final number will be influenced by the silicone implants themselves, anesthesia and facility costs, post-operative appointments, and garments required during recovery.
Dr. Perry will provide an accurate estimate during your consultation. Additionally, we offer financing options for eligible patients who wish to make the procedure more affordable by spreading out payments over time.
