Home/Blog / What Are the Best Support Bras to Wear After Breast Augmentation?

It may not be the first thing you wonder about when considering breast augmentation, but the bra you wear during recovery (and long after) can actually have an effect on your results. Dr. Charles Perry, our experienced plastic surgeon, will discuss the ideal options for your unique treatment plan during your initial consultation. For the most part, you should be able to wear any type of bra you want once your outcome is achieved. However, certain bras should be worn briefly or for special occasions only.

The type of bra that will aid in your healing process will depend on the model of breast implants you receive as well as their placement and location. Shelf bras and bralettes often provide smooth implants with the gentle support they need. For textured implants, a soft-cup sports bra may be a better option, as this undergarment will maintain the implant’s placement while it affixes to the surrounding tissue. Underwire and push-up bras, it should be noted, are generally not advised, although occasional use should be fine. These kinds of bras can alter the location of the breast crease, push the implants into a higher location, or modify their shape.

Your needs, goals, and lifestyle are unique, and Dr. Perry will recommend the ideal bras for your customized treatment plan when you visit.
