Dr. Charles Perry discusses the variety of Sciton® lasers and the purpose of each, touching upon candidacy requirements.

Sacramento, CA — Laser skin resurfacing is an excellent way to improve skin tone and texture without extensive downtime, reveals Dr. Charles Perry. At Chrysalis Cosmetics, the Sacramento plastic surgeon utilizes an array of Sciton® laser technology and customizes treatment plans to suit the needs and goals of his patients. He indicates these laser and light-based treatments can provide numerous benefits for a wide range of skin types when performed by a skilled professional. Dr. Perry encourages individuals considering this technique to seek out a board certified plastic surgeon with extensive laser experience to determine if this approach may be right for them.

There are two main systems available from Sciton®. Combined, they offer over a dozen individual laser and light-based techniques, Dr. Perry explains. “The Sciton® laser is a platform that has many individual functions, allowing us to treat a variety of skin types and a variety of concerns.” Among them are the BBL™, NanoLaserPeel™, and the SkinTyte II™. BBL™, or BroadBand Light, uses light to deliver energy into the skin cells, which he says encourages cell turnover and collagen production. Dr. Perry also indicates that the NanoLaserPeel™ can help to buff away common signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, and SkinTyte II™ is designed to address skin inelasticity.

Laser skin resurfacing, Dr. Perry adds, can be used alone or in combination with other aesthetic enhancements. “These anti-aging effects improve the skin quality and are very useful as adjuncts to our surgical procedures such as facelift, eyelid lift, and neck lift.”

Dr. Perry states that not all lasers will be appropriate for every patient. Every treatment plan, he says, should be customized to the anatomic needs and cosmetic goals of the individual. For patients considering laser skin resurfacing, he says, “It is important to have in mind what improvements you are after and not what laser you want.”

Ultimately, Dr. Perry believes that laser rejuvenation can be used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and other skin concerns across a diverse group of people. Used alone or in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments, he says lasers may be one of the best ways to achieve a more youthful look.
