PRP Therapy

A more beautiful you in less time? It is possible. An innovative, non-surgical technique that uses your body’s natural fluids, PRP therapy can expedite the healing process as well as enhance skin rejuvenation. PRP (platelet-rich-plasma) therapy takes a small volume of your blood, minimally processes it to harvest the rich growth factors in the platelets and serum, and then uses the resulting solution in various cosmetic treatments. Dr. Charles Perry, our board certified plastic surgeon, typically administers PRP with fat grafting procedures and laser skin resurfacing to achieve faster results and to maximize the outcome.

How PRP Therapy Works

The liquid part of blood, referred to as plasma, is filled with protein-rich components called platelets, which are concentrated growth factors that can aid in healing. PRP can be administered to a targeted area through an injection or “stitched” into the tissue to support the healing processes. Dr. Perry uses PRP therapy with fat grafting to help the tissue “take” to its new location with less volume loss than would normally occur with traditional fat grafting. One of the effects of fat transfer, particularly in the face, is increased swelling. Utilizing PRP can help minimize this symptom and speed recovery. Furthermore, by using your own natural tissues, there is virtually no risk of rejection or allergic reaction as could happen with foreign substances.

Our medical team also combines PRP therapy with laser skin resurfacing to enhance skin elasticity, skin texture, and wound healing. While swelling is less of an issue with this treatment, PRP therapy can still reduce downtime and improve the outcome, giving patients even more dramatic results while maintaining a natural-looking result. Your care and comfort are our highest priorities, which is why we are proud to offer this state-of-the-art technique.

During the Procedure

During your initial consultation, Dr. Perry will discuss whether PRP therapy can add to your treatment plan and how it can aid in your results. A small amount of blood will be drawn before the procedure begins, which will then be placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red blood cells. The platelet-rich-plasma will then be used to optimize your results.

What to Expect

Every treatment plan is customized to best suit the patient and their individual needs and goals. Dr. Perry will explain how PRP therapy can be used in your cosmetic program and how it will be administered. While the PRP can be harvested non-surgically, it may be used as part of a surgical procedure, such as fat grafting—which requires liposuction as part of the treatment—or a non-surgical procedure such as laser skin resurfacing. Dr. Perry will go over the details so you can be prepared for every step of the process. We want you to be as comfortable with your medical decision as possible, and we encourage you to ask questions or voice any concerns during your appointment.
